Midfielder, 5’8” Patrick Henry High School Class of 2027 GPA: 4.0/4.6 weighted

Emma was recruited by Coach Andres Deza in the spring of 2023 to join a group of talented and hardworking soccer girls.  Previously, Emma was blessed with the opportunity to be a starter on a boys’ team for 5 years and continues to consider the coaches, parents and players as family.  Emma grew up in a non-soccer family, with no family members that played or watched soccer.  Emma’s love for soccer drove her to improve her individual soccer skills and her determination steered her to Surf to learn the Surf way of playing soccer with Coach Deza’s methodologies.  Emma is a versatile player and normally plays the 6, 8, 10, but when her team needed her, she has played every position besides goalie.  Her strength, tackling ability, speed, creativity on the ball, precise crossing, and awareness to see the attacking space, makes her a good candidate for any position.

Beyond club soccer, Emma has been lucky enough to be part of ODP,  PDP G07 (playing up), a national futsal championship team, and trainings with current professional soccer players.  Both years in high school, she earned Western league 1st team and San Diego County Section CIF all league team.  This year, Emma earned the most points in San Diego County’s top division, with 17 goals and 11 assists.  Her two favorite soccer memories are knocking out the highest ranked boys’ team while playing CB, earning the game MVP, and helping her high school win their first CIF State Championship.

When not sweating on the soccer pitch, Emma enjoys listening to Taylor Swift while baking with her friends, cousins and dog.  She relaxes to life stories and jokes told by cancer patients while she volunteers at the hospital cancer floor.  Their stories and experiences remind her to be grateful for the life she has and pushes her to one day give back.  In hopes of giving back, her MUN (model united nations) research and debates are always focused on world health issues.   As for now, Emma helps herself and fellow high school students overcome their daily mental challenges as the School District’s mental health community resource liaison.
